Buying shares for nephew

I'm thinking of buying shares for my nephew in a company listed on the AIM market. Can anyone advise me on how to go about this, is it easy to buy shares under someone elses name? and if I can am I than allowed sell them on his behalf in the future or would he have to hold them until he was 18. Thanks
