Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

just stumbled across this today. they say jesus never sined? if the bible says this, should we kill pregnent women and children who do not believe in god? i should hope not

Just one of literally hundreds and hundreds of examples of religiously-condoned murder in the bible. A non-exhaustive list lives at:

To read the ENTIRE chapter of Hosea 13, it is easy to see that Hosea is talking about what the consequences are IFn you turn away from the Lord and worship other gods. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Moses will be taken care of as the people were when they came out of Egypt.

If you worship other gods the consequences are like that of Hosea 13:16. The paople of Samaria turned away from God. As a result the bad happens, not done by God but by others. We see it today in our society, we turn away from God, bad things happen. God is probably sitting there frustrated as all get out that after all the warnings and examples humans are still like stupid little children making the same mistake over and over again, then blame God for it?

Omnipotence really isn't what it used to be. You'd think God would be able to come up with some way of convincing everyone that he's the real deal - instead of expecting us to make sense of crazy old stories and then damning us when we decide they're just nonsense.

god doesn't do the bad things. When a society tells him to go take a hike, He does. The society then suffers the consequences of their actions.

What about the floods and plauges of locusts etc etc etc, wasn't that god?
Look the god of the bible is a humanised figure explained by ignorant men in ancient times. Surely if a majestic omnipotent spiritually perfect being existed he would transcend all human concepts and emotions, like you say 'he's frustrated with us', how could you know that or even infer it, god is infinite in everything including patience so any emotion you can attribute to him is immediately contradicted by the bible s description of him as a perfect being.
Again how anyone can ever proport to know the workings of being that transcends us totally in every sense? We can't, simple answer. Thousands of years ago men put pen to paper and created a monster of contradictions, a being that created everything and left it in our hands, then took a back seat, after much interaction early on as time and science progressed god receeded.
Surely the most logical conclusion is that god is a creation, myth or legend passed on by the ignorant throughout time, are we still to believe the supernatural stories of the bible in these times of rocket ships and lasers?
