Anyone know whatever became of the Garda on Bicycle's division in
Limerick.

Since more CCTC cameras have been installed in the city I have noticed
a decline in presence of foot patrol.

2-3 years back around the area that I live in there was a
patrol of GARDA on pedal Bikes. I thought the idea was brilliant as the
Garda units could patrol estates with ease an go place's almost where
an individual could go on foot and where cars and motorbikes could not.

For about a year I saw them patrol and it was great but then they disappeared totally and I dont remember anything on the GARDA website saying they were being disbanded.

It may seem laughable to some poeple hearing about a GARDA
on a bike but if you thinkin about it it make sense in highly built up areas.
there was even a sky one drama series about USA cops on bikes and how
they worked out.

Maybe the bikes were 'taken without the owner's permission'? Or the tyres went flat?

Come to think of it, haven't seen any around Dublin lately!

Saw one GARDA on pedal power in Dublin the day of the Ladies Mini Marathon.
So I am guessing there are still some about the place.

There used to be a soap/drama series set in some USA beach that
a but like Baywatch type thing where the Police were on bedal bikes
and rollerblades.

They're still there.
You'll see them in town on a Saturday, or in preoples park every day.
I don't know how many there are, but I saw one on Patrick Street a few weeks back, and a couple in town on the day of the Red Bull Flugtag!
