been gettin the odd memory error crash in games (3 in the past month). i thought it was related to my old card which was oced to the max on stock cooling, but i got 1 today with my new card that i only got yest. this leads me to think that its ram related. i've tried memory test on sisoft sandra but nothing shows up. is there another test to test ram?

Get Memtest86+ (or Memtest86) and use it to test the memory properly before you do any swapping. It will boot on your PC and run an intensive memory test that will find any problems. It should run for hours without errors if you don't have a problem.

If you find a problem then either test your RAM at the same speed in another PC or get some RAM you know is working and test your PC with it. A memory error can be the RAM or a fault with the Motherboard (or CPU on AMD64 systems).

If you have a decent internet connection then consider downloading and burning UltimateBootCD. It's a single CD with a load of very useful testing tools on it. Both Memtest86+ and Memtest86 are included.

Try some sort of stress-testing too. Prime95 is good for this: http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Could be a power supply issue? What's a good test to push both GPU and CPU? I know 3d mark, et all, would do, but they are quite big, needlessly so. I was thnking something like ATI tool, and prime together, but has anyone made something that will do it in one program? Not for benchmarking, just stability.

bout 3 hrs. is that long enough?

Hmm.... is it only happening with games? Maybe it is a power supply issue, as your graphics card is probably the biggest load on it. What brand/ratings are on your current PSU?

Or maybe it's just a software issue - what games does it happen with, and do you have the latest pathces/drivers/etc.?

i'm convinced its just a software issue. happened in Fear. got new patch. als ok so far. psu is 460w, but happened with old gpu which didnt have sli power connection. hopefully its solved
