Everytime time i try to plug my DV cam into the PC, via firewire to transfer files it crashs. The only way i can transfer is through USB 2.0, which is slower.

Is there any way i can sort this problem out???

Are you using Firewire 400 or 800 as there are supposedly issues with FW800 under XP but FW400 should be fine on any WinXP SP2 box.

Which leads me to the next question do you have service pack 2 installed ?

What he said, and do you have the latest drivers for your motherboard (or FireWire card if it is separate)?
