    Folks,

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Waterford to hold a wedding reception. I've never been to a wedding in the area so would appreciate any comments.

    Thanks,
    Ann

Faithleg and Waterford Castle are good hotels, but pretty pricey. The Granville is quite nice and cheaper, there's the Tower too, but I'm not a big fan of it.

If u can get it i would go Waterford Castle my self. At the moment there closed as there doing some building work. 2 of my family have got married there and its very good. I dont think its 2 bad for price either.

The Woodlands Hotel has loadsa parking and is nice but I know that you have to book it a year in advance, and I'm guessing it would be the same for most of the Hotels in Waterford.

Personally I'd go for the Tower everytime. Plenty of room - centrally located. Downside to Faithlegg and the Castle is the price of drink(!) and travelling difficulties.

I've yet to experience a bad one at the Tower. I believe the waiting list locally can be 18 months or above.

Best of luck to you in your married life.:D

    Thanks for the tips.

I've been looking up places on the internet and I'd love to use Waterford Castle but I've never even been there. Plus I hadn't realised that it's under renovation at the moment.
I've looked into Faithlegg but it's more suited to smaller groups. The tower might be an option.

Anyone got any recommendations for hotels in Wexford/Kilkenny areas as I don't mind travelling.

You'd probably be better off going out foreign to get married and save all the expense of getting married in Ireland these days , at least all your family get a good holiday and you dont have to pick up the tab !

The main hotels in waterford for weddings are:

The Tower - good rep for weddings, caters for big crowds, can easily fit up to 300 and has plenty of accommodation

Granville - has a good rep, parking can be difficult though as on the quay

Dooleys - unsure of rep, parking can be difficult though as on the quay

Faithlegg - Small groups, max 130 but lovely location out in countryside. Can be pricey too.

Woodlands - Good rep, can cater for all size of groups and plenty of parking

Manor Court Hotel - Country side hotel, out behind the holy cross pub on cork road, lovely hotel and good rep for weddings.

Waterford Castle - small parties only, max 80 I think, wont let you rent out hotel for functions unless you rent out all rooms, well used to be like that. Also very very expensive

Jeez, for a single guy I know a lot about hotels and weddings!!!!! :D

300? Please don't do that to us! As someone who works in the Tower I'm obviously going to say that it's a great place to hold your reception but it's also because I genuinely think that it is given its location and reputation.

    Sorry man, did know :D

I was at a wedding there a few years back and there were 260 seated at the wedding and then about 50 more for the afters and was well impressed how it was handled by the staff. Service was excellent, never waiting at the bar for more than a few minutes and the food was very good. :)

Jeez, I should work for the place!!! :p
