I have hooked up my new laptop to a Digital 21 inch monitor.
The monitor worked well with my previous laptop but the display is now distorted with the new laptop.

The colours are fine, it does not need calibration but the left and right side of the display are curved inwards. I have tried extending the image as far left and right as possible before cutting off the image but the curve is quite severe.

The only adjustments availalble to me are move left/right, move up/down, expand left/right, expand up/down.

    Any ideas?
    txs :o

Meh sounds like you need to adjust the pin-cushion or whatever it is... though if you don't have that as an option on your monitor, then you're probably fudged.
Try some different resolutions and refresh rates though, it might just be the one you're using.

    Hi donkey
That did the trick - don't know why I didn't think of it.
The only problem is that I had to reduce the res significantly which is a bit of a problem but not as big a problem as the curve issue.

    thanks!

Well don't give up on the refresh rate idea either... in the display properties/settings go into advanced and then the monitor tab... the dropdown box should let you experiment with other refresh rates using the higher resolution.
Could be just using a refresh rate the monitor wasn't configured to expect.

Those Digital ( Brand ) of monitors are quite dated at this stage , may not be able for much ( high resolutions etc )

I had trouble with a low quality monitor cable at high resolutions before. Maybe try a different cable if you can get your hands on one.

If it's a Sony Trinitron (methinks Digital used them at some stage) it should be pretty good, and being 21" it should have originally been good for 1600x1200 @ 85Hz (unless it's over about 10 years old), though it may have gone a bit blurry and darker since then.

stupid thing keeps jumping back to 1024/768.
I'm daffy ducked I think. Ooh the disappointment!!!
Visual Studio at that res is a nightmare!

    thanks for all suggestions!

See if Windows has the drivers for that monitor - in display properties go to advanced, and "update driver" for the monitor, then make it display a list of all the available monitor drivers - it might be there (or try something similar if not). It's probably not plug & play, so Windows doesn't know what frequencies it can take.

Looking at the available drivers in Windows 2000, there's a 21" Digital monitor of some sort, so you may be in luck.
