I want to get long(as long as you want, i.e. e-bow on guitar) sustanied bass notes and chords and have tried bowing and using the e-bow. They both don't work very well. Any inovative ideas?

No, I want to be able to hold the note or chord for as long as I want, like an e-bow on a guitar, sus/comp wont do that

You could do it with the Line 6 delay pedal.

An ebow will work for that, but you can also use a delay with feedback up full.

Ebow works fine on bass, you just have to make sure you position it right in relation to the pickup. If you download the manual from the ebow site you'll see what I mean. Anyway, ebow + delay = teh sex
