Scary event that occured this morning

Something happened to me today which has never happened before. I walked into the kitchen and out of nowhere that feeling you get when your just about to get sick hit me suddenly hit me, my reaction was to try and block it off but whatever way I did that, it meant I couldn't breathe or take any air in. I kept making these really high pitches loud raspy noise but no oxygen was getting in. So I got to fridge and immediately drank some coke to clear my airways and thankfully it did the job and it was all over in about 30 seconds
    .
This scared me, for brief time it happened, I was really worried about what if I can't fix it, I had to sit down for a few minutes as I was shaking and my abdominal muscles are slightley hurt I assume due to pressure I put on them trying to breathe in.

I was just wondering does anyone have an idea what happened, was it just 1 of those freak things, I mean I have stuff going down wrong airway but nothing like this, someone said to me it maybe panic attack but I am not feeling stressed or under pressure so not too sure about that. Any help appreciated

Could easily have been a panic attack - the thing about them is you don't always have to be under stress - sometimes they just happen.

I'd go to the doc and let him/her know. They may be able to give you some techniques to try should they happen again.

I remember the first time I had one of the 'adrenalin rush'-type feelings people on blood pressure medication often get. I thought i was having a stroke. When I described it to the doc, he reassured me it was normal and now when they happen I don't get stressed at all. Sounds like you could do with some reassurance.

very short episode to be an asthma attack , especially when no remedy was taken to relieve it so quickly

sounds very like a panic attack (with panic attacks often you can't identify any conscious anxiety that would bring it on)

    go to doctor

It does indeed sound like a panic attack but none of us here can say definitively so you should go to your GP. I have had a panic attack before and they occur often at times when you are not stressed at all and can even wake to up when you are asleep (a time when you are probably most relaxed)! Panic attacks are very physical experiences and not being able to breathe is a common symptom of them. They are very common and people will usually present in A & E, thinking there is something wrong with their lungs or some such thing.

My experience is that doctors are not good at spotting panic attacks, so if your doctor is unsure what is wrong with you, you should perhaps ask if there is the possibility that it was a panic attack! Panic attacks are easily cured. Best of luck!

    No
Nobody in this forum has a clue what happened.
This is not a Medical Forum and we are not professional doctors.
Go see your GP if you are worried.
