    FANTASTIC

What a great course. Highly advise. I may be getting a membership there. The only bad thing I can say is that the 18th is a par 3...a great par three...I just don't like ending on a par 3. The food is quality, the clubhouse is great. It is a long course and plays different from all the boxes....you could even play the reds an enjoy the round.

16k to join.....best deal around IMO.

The rounds are 50 right now which is one of the best values around....this is a Tier 1 course and I love it...I have played it every weekend since it opened.

Haven't played it, but have heard it is long, and in excellent condition.

Is 16K a once off payment - or is it a share membership?
    What about yearly fees?

    Agreed. It's a great course.

We actually played it the day after it opened so needless to say they were some of the best greens I have ever played, probably only bettered by the Heritage.
My only gripe was the rough. Being new grass it wasn't very dense or strong so if (when!) a ball went in it just dropped right down between the grass and even swinging like a mofo it could take two or three goes to get it back in play. IMO that's too much punishment for straying a couple of feet off the fairway. The course manager came out at the 18th to ask our opinions and when we said it to him he said he knew about that problem and they would be cutting the rough a bit shorter soon. Be interested to hear what it's like now as I believe it's on teetimes.ie for €25 midweek earlybird rates now. Will definitely pay it another visit but for now Rathcore is my favourite track and at €17.50 with an open fairways card it's unbelievable value.

I was there the opening day when Christy O'Connor played a few holes. Its a lovely course with amazing greens. As said already I heard the rough is lethal. I believe its very expensive to join.
The 18th par3 is a lovely hole. It takes a good shot across water to reach the green. I think O'Connor hit a good 4 iron to reach it as far as I remember.
I heard Rathcore is going into liquidation. Glad I didnt join there.

Hadn't heard that about Rathcore but it sounds unlikely. I know Ballinascorney was sold recently but the members were given a guarantee (sp?) that the status quo would be maintained for four years at least, then discussions would start about buying out the existing members.
