Dont know villain, in fact have no idea how he got his stack since my attention was diverted. He went from 450 to 1200 in about 4 mins. Since then we have clashed heads preflop a few times, but they have all ended preflop. This is the only time he has flat called. I have about 1700, he has 1400.

I get JJ on the bb and make it 30, he calls.

Flop is QQ7 2 spades, chk chk

    Turn 7, chk chk

River 2, chk I bet 50 , he makes it 150 more. Whats the best action?

Unless you have been getting really aggro on a lot of rivers lately I don't see him checking a queen the whole way.. he just doesn't have the implied odds to do this.

I think you're ahead here.. and I reckon he has an ace and is looking to take the split pot away from you.

He might just have a seven.. and by raising you might take him off it... but so many players will make a desperate call with the seven.

prob call him hoping to see an ace.

    am i way off here?

edit: what do you think he puts you on?

i dont like the bet on the river.
what is it suppose to achive?
it cant be a value bet as he would almost always drop everything that you can beat and call/raise with everything that beats you.
it cant be bluff either as your hand has some show down value .
    am i wrong here?
as it stand i honestly dont see what his rasing with that you can beat.
some very aggro players may try to take this here with an A with reraise but with out a read i would rule it out as most would just call here if they thought the A would give them a split pot.
as it stands i think fold.

I dont mind betting the river, he might call with Ax, or 88/99/TT. Although he should prolly take some positive action before now with those hands.

HJ, what is the Pre-Flop action here BTW, did limp call, and if so, what position was he in?? Also is this 5/10??

I have to say it'd be a brave man (as in not getting much value) to check down a Q or an overpair the whole way, and then check raise the river here ... as far as I can see the only hand that is beating you is a 7...

i'd say he put you on the steal with the 50 bet , and was seeing if you had anything to back it up with....

Gholi - your kidding right? Of course its not a bluff, a seven or a queen is never folding. But my hand looks exactly like Ace high, so I can get called by any pair (88 - 10, 10) or ace high expecting to chop it. Betting an ace here would be different.

I just thought it was so unlikely that anyone is checking a queen three times, and it would be a very odd raise with a lone seven so I called. He had Ax.

I call, I think he is bluffing and may not even have Ax.

if he has nothing what is the point in raising?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

This is slightly different to HJ's due to the Flop action, but I'd call here too, just not as easily as the HJ hand. But I think that there's enough chance that he's bluffing/ expecting to chop/ has 77 - JJ to make this a profitable call IMO....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Hectorjelly

It really depends on the villain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 910 ✭✭✭AmarilloFats

Do you think a better line would be Check turn lead $45 river??
El Stuntman, why would I raise here!?
If I check two streets, as I did in this hand I tend to call a river bet.Right?

Anyway, I called he hand a horribly played 44.
