Well the Cavan lads here are very quiet about this game so far.

If half the rumours I've been hearing are true, its no wonder.

I hear Pierson (probably Cavan's best forward) and Mackey have been kicked off the panel because of a bust-up with management over training regimes. Allegedly they disagreed with the management's idea to some some heavy duty training after the Down defeat, this type of training is usually restricted to before Christmas, i.e. "winter training". They refused to do it, so have been kicked out. You'd think some attempt would be made at reconciliation, but no news so far (that I've heard).

Also heard that Gaynor is injured, and Brady is unavailable because he has to play handball.....

Cavan seem to be imploding. Kildare should have too much for them, although it is hard to tell what Kildare might do on the day.

Your a Dub through and through:D

As for the match, if all these stories about Cavan are true, its hard to see them getting a result against Kildare. I dont rate this Kildare side too highly, but Cavan were very poor against Down, and i cant see past a Kildare win. Any word on the line-up's yet?

This could be a very poor game folks, Cavan lost to a very poor Down side and Kildare were well beaten by Offaly, hard to pick a winner from either of them. I think Kildare will shade it.

Not too much confidence in Kildare about this game. We all know that Cavan are in a slump but so are Kildare. We would expect to win but going on the last few years, Kildare will either be brilliant or Sh1t, you just never know which team will turn up.

We expected to beat Offaly too but our back line decided to stay in bed that day and conceded three goals. Our performance against Offaly was nearly forgotten amid the appeal, but it was a very below par game for us and the managers selection and changes that day are being questioned.

Some injuries to key players like Karl Ennis, Derek McCormack and Padraig Mullarkey also will not help.

Cavan were awful against a poor Down team. Can't see much hope for Cavan despite Kildare not being very good.

Cavan needs a big sort out at county board level. When the County Board Chairman goes to the GAC to plead for a player who has broken an opponent's jaw in a county friendly, off-the-ball and from behind (pleading "out of character" although we all know he does similiar things week-in week-out for his club)and gets him off with a one-month ban with the same player returning to play for the county team, then something is badly wrong.

Personally I'm hoping Cavan do get knocked out by Kildare, if we do beat them then all it will do is paper over the cracks for another year. Watching Cavan this year has been unbelievably depressing, dire football at a slow tempo which saw us lose to football super powers such as Louth, Waterford and Down. It has to stop.

Cavan is a footballing county, we go to games to see good football with lots of commitment and heart and all we see is Cavan trying to stop the other team from playing.

It has been the same for the past year, so that can only point to one man... Martin McElkennon. We have some very good players in the county, alright they may not be world beaters but they are good enough to take the game to any team in Ireland and what does McElkennon do? Asks them to defend. It has to stop now...

The county board are in need of a serious kick up the hole, we haven't even played one club championship game in Cavan yet and possibly won't for another three weeks. Most other counties would be well into their championship at this stage with their players playing at their highest possible physical level. In Cavan we haven't had the chance to do that. There hasn't been a senior league fixture for two to three weeks for some clubs, wrapping up the players in cotton wool isn't going to do any good for their match sharpness either...

What I say is, Cavan please lose on Saturday, so that we can get on with the club championship and get off to a completely fresh start next year.

Here's the Kildare line up. A few new faces and a few brave decisions made by the manager. They have totally changed the full forward line that scored 10pts from play the last day out, presumably in an attempt to create goal scoring chances. Full back line sees Kevin O'Neill return after injury. He showed great promise at full back early in the league and hopefully is the answer to that problem position. Johnny Doyle moves out to the half forward line where he may heve more influence on the game.

    1. Enda Murphy
    2. Andrew McLoughlin
    3. Kevin O'Neill
    4. Mark Hogarty
    5. Mick Foley
    6. John Divilly
    7. Anthony Rainbow
    8. Killian Brennan
    9. Dermot Earley
    10. Johnny Doyle
    11. James Kavanagh
    12. Ronan Sweeney
    13. Tommy Archibold
    14. Tomas O'Connor
    15. Padraig O'Neill

I really don't think Divilly is the future of Kildare football. While he is good with the ball in his hands, he's terrible at his defensive duties.

I'd like to think Kildare would be too strong for Cavan but it all depends if they decide to play.

Mackey was kicked off because he didn't bother turning up for two training sessions. McElhennon basically told him that he had grown too big for his boots and to come back when he was willing to put in the effort.

Don't believe everything you read in the papers. I was told that by a member of the county panel.

Kildare didn't play for the first 15 mins of each half and still came away with a comfortable win. Scoring 1-18 is great but they conceded to much against a very poor Cavan side. I'd expect them to stick with more or less the same 15 for the next game against Derry with possibly Mark Hogarty or Rainbow loosing out to the returning David Lyons.

Derry will be a big test but that is for another day.
