    Hey Guys,

Sorry if I had seen this thread yesterday I could have told ye all that that sale oficially started today BUT anyone could call in between 6 - 9pm last night and bought any sale item. The only difference last night was that Arnotts card holders got an extra 10% off. All the common sizes are gone for Asics runners - I got Kayano's for half price - problem was that there was a massive scramble and within a couple of hours most of the runners were gone. I think you can still get Nimbus and one or two others but go today to have any chance...

How long do you reckon a pair of runners should last?

I've a pair of Asics GT2100 and a pair of Mizuno something-or-other. Mostly use the Asics and over the last 6 months I've really given them a hammering on the roads. They still feel great but have a used look to them.

I'm not about to replace them but is there a rule anybody follows about how many miles a shoe should last for or be replaced after or anything?

I have a pair of adidas supernova. Have had them 3 moths and they are ripped all over the place. I have clocked up a steady amount of mileage in them and the soles arent too bad, but i cant believe how their falling apart.

    Ah well!!!!

About the running life of shoes, they recommend you change them after about 500 miles, however this depends a lot on the wearer and the conditions, but it is a good rule of thumb. Of course a lot of us wear our running shoes for other activities then running, so simply going through your diary and adding up the miles may not give a real indication as to the amount of miles on a pair of shoes.

I also read somewhere that you should ahve two pairs on the go at any one time and that you should alternate between them both. This gives them time to fully dry out after a run, and can increase the life of the uppers, if not the support.

    Happy running!!
