You can't get a second one.

You can get a 4 year extension if you get sponsored by an employer.

You can now extend the WHV for another year if you do 3 months "harvest" work while you're there. So go fruit picking and you get to stay another year.

immigration and tax are not linked up they will be in a number of years, when i was first here i left and came back on a tourist visa and worked on my original tax file number and even claimed back my tax, when i applied for sponsorship and residency it never came to light i also spent the 12 months working for the 1 company, be qute tho tell no one tho

To get the 4 year you either have to have a degree and 3 years work experience or else 5 years + exp.
Finding the employer can be tough unless you are a doctor/nurse/finance manager etc.
Theres an online suitability test to do, cant remember the address, but google will probably find it.
    Its worth the effort.

I think you can also get a skilled migration visa. It works on a points system. You need to get 120. It is costly and takes a while before you get your results. I dont think you need to find an employer before hand but then again I may be wrong.

I imagine that since 9/11 they've been forced to look a little deeper into all these stories of 'lost' passports.

k974 I'm not convinced this will work. I'm in Oz now on a WHV and when you get a job they always ask to see your visa in your passport which i presume would cause an issue if you just had a holiday visa......?

Lavaghman is right there - i was asked immediately for my WHV, but i say the lost passport will work, cause your name is in Iriah and i think they have to give you a new passport numer - for avoiding forgeries etc, think this is standard around the globe - anybody confirm?

On another note - i am totally peed off with rip off Ireland, why should i buy a house and live in debt for the rest of my life, it breaks my heart to leave my fsmily and this beautiful country but i feel its becoming the only option. Will soon be applying for the 4 year visa (i quaslify) anybody know how long this takes

the passprot thing is bull****! i doesnt work as soon as they scan your passport it refers it to the old one, i live here for a while i've used 4 passports to come in and out with 1 expired 1 lost new one, then had tmeporary and then the new one. i never had any problems even though my permament residency visa label wasnt uit the new one as the computer referred it to the old one.

one time entering on the temporary one i asked what would happen when i left on a new one i told her i didnt want to be recorded as overstaying as i was only on holiday visa then, immigration officer told me it automatically refers it to any passports you've had.

probably work if you had a uk or other nation passport.

what i said about tax file does work but obviously if your employer asks to see your passport it wont unless you tell them you hold an oz one and they belive you or something and dont ask to see it. not every employer asks to see it mainly big companies and those familair with backpackers and the regualtions.

i've been here a long time i havent paid a cent in tax and seen enough of what goes on to consider myself fairly clued up on what you can and cant get away with

I got my 4-year visa in 3 months and a month of that was cause of a computer problem in the DIMA.
