    Hi All,

Having a few problems with my site. Here we recently changed our service providers and were given a new firewall IP. My new firewall is pointing to the server where the site which is sitting on one of our servers as before. Now for some reason people outside our firewall cant hit our site even though when we inside type in the address on the site we can see it...

Any ideas guys, Im in dire need of a solution or even a suggestion as Ive tried everything...

    Hi,

Given that you've got a new IP Address. it might be a DNS problem. Does your domain resolve to the correct new IP Address?

    Regards,

    Liam

    Hi Liam,

Yes as far as I can make out it resolves to its correct IP i.e. the firewall points to the server IP that the site sits on and the site is the default website on that server. Is this what you mean?

    Cheers

No. You say that people outside your firewall can't hit your site. I'm asking if those people are having the domain name resolve to the correct public IP address that was assigned by your ISP. I'm asking this because you say that your IP address has changed.

Here's a couple more questions for you:
    1. What do you mean "people outside our firewall cant hit our site"? Do they get an error? What is the error?
    2. Has your DNS been updated to reflect your changed IP address?
    3. Have you tested it from outside the firewall to verify what those people outside the firewall are telling you? If not, do so. What are the results of those tests?
    4. From outside the firewall, can you reach the website by entering the domain name? If not, can you reach it by entering the ip address?

    Regards,

    Liam

Test access from the internet using the IP of your server, if that works then yes it's DNS, if not then it's something else.
Soooo. Presuming it won't. You don't point firewalls at sites, it's a wall ;), not being pedantic but the original post is a wee bit confusing as written.
My understanding is that you have a webserver on your own network? You have a firewall on the perimeter of this network (And I presume inside if you have the Server running in a DMZ?). What type of firewall are you using? Most likely you simply need to redo the Access lists on the external interface of the firewall to allow access to your webserver (And that server only for those rules).
A bit more info would help.
