What was with Metallica's new Bass Player at the Download festival? Bass Guitar apparently now requires you to squat down with your bum 2 inches off the ground, and pull a face like you need a serious dump. I know it's hard to be an energetic bass player sometimes, but this guy was ridiculous. The faces, and squats just became weird after the 20/30th time he'd done it.

Its Robert Trujillo, ex Suicidal Tendancies / Infectious Grooves.

Best bassist ever, and thats what he does.

He's hardly the best bass player there is. Jaco Pastorius, John Myung, and Billy Sheehan would argue over that crown!

You forgot about Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, if we are gonna get into a bass player discussion!!

Trujillo is a master at the style he does and his talents are throughly wasted in Metallica IMO

He's a good bassist and who gives a flying fu*k if he makes faces on stage. Have you seen the state of lars ulrich?

Yes, but lars has a great sense of humour about it, Roberto tries to be too serious and ends up looking a tad on the foolish side.

haha, i notice something similar with new order bassist peter hook, either hes trying to emulate an orangutang or hes very sensitive to gravity.

Anyone who thinks Rob is less than a brilliant bass has prob not heard his work with infetious grooves.

Funny, most pepole think Lars is the dick in that band!

I do agree he is kind of waisted in Metallica, even Cliffs stuff is a very different style to his. Next studio album should be interesting.
