Frozen screen

I'm on Sky Digital and the screen has frozen and has been like this for at least 1 hour. There is also no sound. Just the picture on the screen and the blue thing for favourite channels on the bottom of screen. Anyone have experience of this? Does it go away by itself or do I need to call round someone?

Tried switching off the box but it doesn't respond.

Plug out the box for a few seconds and plug back in again.

MY box is at this all the time at the moment. It grand for a day or so then its a nightmare. I missed 24 last Sunday after resetting the box every couple of minutes to stop the picture freeze. Could my box be overheating? Its in a well vented area but around 4 years old this year. As we speak I have a blue screen. I was told to cut the cable back about 6 inches or so to rule out a dodgy connection but to no avail.

What kind of box? If it's an old black Grundig I'd recommend changing it for a Panasonic TU-DSB40. I had a Grundig and it just gradually seemed to get worse with every update (don't think the hardware was up to it really - sky boxes are not created equal it seems!), but the newer Panasonic still works fine 2 years on.

Its a PACE 2500. Its amazing. My folks recently moved and had a new sky box installed. The new box is one of those bright coloured PACE boxes and its mighty quick compared to mine. Just playing around with settings this evening. I've reset the LNB power and the 22khz command but nothing has changed. The signal strength bar is at around 80% but the signal quality is going from 0 to 50 per cent all the time. Could it be possible my dish needs a tweek?
