    I know it's all over and there is no going back changing anything but the only bad experience in my book is one where i don't learn something

    Could someone please help me out with understanding Question 8 c from paper 1 on the higher level leaving cert exam.

    okay, so you calculated the area from the first part fine....now for the second part, you first need to find the points of intersection, so solve f(x)=g(x) for x and let's say we get a and b as the answers. now the area enclosed by f(x) and g(x) means the area in between both curves, so basically it's the area underneath f(x) from a to b minus the area under g(x) from a to b. so the necessary integral is integral from a to b of (f(x)-g(x)) dx...hope this makes sense
