    Has anyone used either

"Adobe Photoshop CS for Photographers : Professional Image Editor's Guide to the Creative Use of Photoshop for the Mac and PC" (Martin Evenin)

or The Adobe Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter)
    by Scott Kelby

Did you find them any good ? Which would you recommend ?

    Thanks in advance

Scott Kelby's book is by far the best book i have read on Photoshop. Quick, to the point tutorials. You will learn a lot in half an hour. Martin Evening's book is good but very technical and takes a lot longer to get to the point. Still worth it though.

If I had to recommend just one book for anyone interested in practical Photoshop techniques, Scott Kelby's is definitely it.

Don't know either of those two books but I find this one of great use.
The Photoshop CS2 Speed Clinic : Automating Photoshop to Get Twice the Work Done in Half the Time
    By Matt Kloskowski
Very handy for speeding up your work flow.

I agree, Kelby's is better for dipping into. You can also get free podcasts of his 'Photoshop TV' from www.photoshoptv.com

Kelby's CS2 for Digi Photographers is the business!! Superb book, I have encouraged loads of my friends to get it, and everyone really likes it :)

I have heard good things about Kelby as well - and the photoshop tv stuff on itunes is ok as well. I found this one very useful - Photoshop CS Essential skills by mark galer and phillip andrews. I think its probably a matter of finding one thats aimed for the level you are at.

Seems like I bought the wrong one :) I have Martin Evening's book, very technical indeed, but I like it :D

It seems that Kelby has written 26 books on Photoshop. Which one(s) have you guys got.

I'm pretty new to photoshop but I work in IT and don't want something too basic.

I have got "CS2 for Digital Photographers", it really is very good. Has sections for all levels from beginners to advanced and pro. You cant go wrong with this book. I guarantee.

Kelby's books are written so well that they may be mistaken by a novice as being basic. They are not. They are used by pros. CS2 for Digital Photographers is the business. I have Tricks and Tips too and some of it is good but most of it is not much use to me anyway.
