RGB Scart Cable

I am looking for some help from the experts that live around here. I have performed a search on this issue but I have not quite found the answers I am looking for.

I have had Sky+ for around 8 months but have never tried to improve my configuration.

I understand that to get the best quality picture, I should get the box to output an RGB signal. I have a TV with one RGB enabled scart. However, I believe that in order to get an RGB signal (plus audio) from Sky+ to the TV, I need a fully wired scart cable.

So my questions are as follows:

Is my understanding of the situation correct?

Is the scart cable that came with the Sky+ box a fully wired one?

If needed, can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced fully wired scart cable that can be purchased in Dublin/Kildare?

Finally, and thank you for your patience, I may be getting a new TV in the near future. Is there anything I should look for connection-wise?

Screw open the cover and see has it more than about 6 wires. "Fully wired" doesn't actually need to mean every pin.

Individually screened wires is more important than "gold" which does nothing for the quality. Usually the Sky supplied SCART are "fully wired" but no individually screened which leads to slight picture disturbance on dark loud scenes and slight "buzz" on sound on bright contrasty quiet scenes. Very noticable on Films as the dialog audio level is low and effects /music is loud, esp on DVD.

Typically the partially wired cables don't have all the pins fitted,

Go into Services Setup to enable RGB.

My TV has two SCART inputs. Only one actually supports RGB.

Only the TV out SCART is switchable to RGB, The Recorder SCART output is only composite.

    New TV:
    S-Video and SCART.

IF HD Ready Then Larger and HDMI connector also.

Go by screen height. Not quoted cm or inches which is a diagonal so misleadinly higher for 16:9 TVs rather than older 4:3 shaped TV.

An RF aerial socket is handy.

Try your local B&Q for some sart leads. Depending on the store, they can have a decent range of scart leads that vary wildly in price.

the scart that came with your box is RGB compatible, just make sure RGB is turned on within the installer menu and you are using AV1 on your tv
