Sky Box vs Other Satellite Reciever Boxes

I just want to clarify a few things.

Is it the case that a Sky box is no good for recieving other satellite channels from other satellites. I know the Free to air channels can be recieved with a Sky viewing card, but i believe these are still from the same satellite, Astra.

Can a sky box be used with a motorised dish...

To the best of my knowledge, a Sky digibox cannot use/control a motor.

You could use an external positioner, but a Sky box is basically a useless heap of ****e for non-28E services.

No Motorised dish, no Diseqc switch, only SR27500 and SR22000.

You don't need card for FTA channels.

It does work sort off with a manual switch on 13E and 19E FTA channels, but tends to hang. Real FTA receivers are from 70 Euro.

can sky be recieved on other satellite reciever boxes. I suppose what im asking is:

If i had a motorised dish could that dish be used in conjunction with a Satellite recieverbox to get the Sky channels and also the other satellites channels

No, Sky's encryption system is not compatible with generic satellite boxes.

The FTA channels (the one that still work when you pull out the card) that are "on Sky" will work with other satellite boxes.

As MYOB says the Sky card only works in a Sky box (yes I know about the exceptions but let's not confuse people with our Guru-ness here).
