Well, got a new computer there a few months ago from Dell. It came with free McAfee virus for 3 months. Now its up and everytime I log on it says do I want to renew my subscription as its out of date and pay this amount etc.

Should I renew with McAfee? I am already now using AvG and AdAware for viruses (thanks to people on this forum who have kindly recommended same).

Do I need to renew with McAfee?

More importantly the popups from them are annoying me can I delete McAfee altogether and just use the anti_virus software I have instead??

    Many thanks :)

The unstall from McAfee is pretty good, removes all traces apart from two files, one being your sub info.

So, if you want, it's an easy process to remove, just make sure you reboot.

But, there's a new version of the suite coming in 5-6 weeks, that's a massive improvment on what you currently have. As a subscription user, you'd get this automatically.
Anti-Spyware/Anti virus and firewall will be bundled as one application, and very easy to configure and use.

I removed all traces of McAffee (it was being a hog) on my lappy, put on AVG first of all and recently moved to Anti-Vir, works fine for me.

I'd agree - AVG is fine. The automatic renewal with McAfee is a pain if you don't want to renew your initial subscription.

Sound thanks, I think I'll remove it so. Yeah I'm already using AVG too, thanks to the advice posted on boards actually. So think I will stick with it.

    cheers for the replies :)
