You can do a search on slingbox on this forum, as there was somebody watching Irish TV from San Francisco, but your best source of information on this will be SlingCommunity The 'PAL/NTSC gig' hasn't been an issue even for Slingboxes that are officially NTSC only

260 euro/ £174.40 - wow, a saving of 8.20 euro/£5.60 off the UK price. If I lived in Warrenpoint, I could cycle over to Dundalk and save a packet :D

I bet Sky will have an issue with this. Look at the hassle you have to go through to get Multroom in the same house sure! :(

A P4 / AMD 2GHz or better PC running Linux or Windows can do all the Sling box stuff more flexibly. The SW all free. PAL, NTSC ordinary resolution, reduced resolution and HD all supported.

You need very good upload BW on your Broadband to be able to have decent quality. 256k is abysmal unless you do 1/4 resolution. 512k is marginal quality at full resolution though perfect at 1/4 resolution.
