    hello
i haven't posted on this forum before but i decided to chance my arm....I'm looking for advice on catching a ferry from near cheshire to ireland somehow. i think i will end up going next weekend (unless during the week is significantly cheaper). i'm bringing a car home (to cork) so i want to fly there and catch a ferry home. i haven't done this before and i'm worried about making schoolboy errors like putting myself to undue trouble or expense. i have to avoid overnight stays but i would like to do this as 1) conveniently as possible and 2) as cheaply as reasonably possible in that order.
    any advice?

looks like you need a flight from either cork to manchester and then ferry back from liverpool or holyhead and drive back to cork. You could fly from dublin to manchester if it is expensive from cork.

You need to look at aer lingus, ryanair, norfolk line ferries, stena line ferries and irish ferries.

Should be straight forward once you see what the fares are.

You best bet would be to drive to Holyhead from Chesire as the Liverpool to Dublin ferry to Dublin takes about 7 to 8 hours. The Stena HSS from Holyhead to Dun Laoighre only take 99 mins. Its about a 2 hour drive to Holyhead from Chesire i knowwhic option I would perfer.

Choice is simple enough pay a premium on the HSS or Dublin Swift and get a fast pleasant day time crossing or save a few euro and take a night cruise ferry. It is hard to know what to do as the A55 tends to be very busy during summer days particularly at weekends. I agree with JJ Brien Liverpool is just too long and the boats are very basic and are only really used for freight.

Hyde is the name of the town in cheshire.
i think i may i have cracked it though- 23rd (friday). aer arann flight @ 11:00am from waterford to manchester arriving @12:15. (€111). stena line ferry from holyhead @18:30 arriving 20:50 in dun laoghaire(€191). and blast all the way home! am i missing something obvious here or should i just go ahead and book it????????
