Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to stop silicone from going hard in the spout part of the tubes used for sealing aroung toilets ,shower doors etc.I've tried puting a screw in the spout but when i scome to use it again most of the contents in the spout are gone hard.

    Thanks

Silicon only hardens after contact with air, so I just leave a small blob at the end of the nozzle, which goes hard and forms a rubber 'stopper' which can be pulled out later. The silicon should only harden to a depth of about 1cm inside the nozzle, which should squeeze out without breaking when you pull on the hardened stopper. This is usually ok if you re-use it within 6 months.

Once I put the cap on, I just pump the handle to the max for a similar effect as Sir Random has said.

I onced used a long thick screw plugged into the nozzle ,but it will completely go hard if not used regularly.

When you buy silicone, get a few extra nozzles. When the silicone goes hard, whip off the old nozzle and pop on a new one.
