Just got a headset. It has two plugs, one for speakers and one for mic. The LINE IN and LINE OUT on the front of my PC don't seem to work, where as the ones in the back are fine. any suggestions?

make sure all the volume settings are turned up on the computer for the front sockets.

line in and line out won't work for headphones and a microphone (basically what a headset is).

"make sure all the volume settings are turned up on the computer for the front sockets."

Well, line out should work for headphones AFAIK, but Line In for microphones is another story.

Line In is basically a reverse of the line out, if you had the right cable you could hook up something with a headphone output (useful for transferring stuff off tapes, for example) you could connect it in there.

A microphone is a different device altogether, and you need to plug that in to the microphone jack on your soundcard/front panel.

The microphone jack should be pink in colour. Line in IIRC is blue, Line Out green.

frount side audio may not be connected, if it works in the back it generally works in the frount.
