Monitors - 17" vs. 19"

Comparing prices on Komplett, the 19" LCDs are very similar in price to the 17" LCDs. Why go for one above the other? I am contemplating switching from CRT to LCD this week (desk space is an issue) and would have thought the obvious thing would be to go for as large a monitor as possible - but does the larger monitor mean some games would look pixelly? For example, I currently run Oblivion in 1024 x 768 resolution (or something similar), while the LCD monitors' native resolution seem to be 1280 x 1024 - would this be a problem?

AFAIK the 19in monitor will look more pixelly. You probably already know this but a 17in lcd will still be bigger than a 17in crt (in terms of diagonal screen size). So even if you "only" get a 17in lcd it'll still be an upgrade.

im guessing now, but i'd say 1024x768 "stretched out" to fit on a 19in lcd would look blocky.

I dont have oblivion but I imagine you can change the resolution settings ingame to match the lcd. But this'll put more load on your graphics card (Just something to consider).

Sorry if im talking crap :) . Hopefully someone else can give you a more concrete answer.

you also need to be aware of the response time..you want something that is the most at 12ms but try going for a lower one...
