Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here's an abstract for an ongoing German study looking at crime rates and television coverage of crime, I'm sure there's loads more out there.

The media has huge sway over what's in the public's mind - therefore regardless of whether rates of a particular type of crime are going up or down, one or two well publicised cases is often all it can take for it to become a very real if not quite rational fear for a lot of people.

Another article from the BBC relating to crime figures and public opinion.
