Some awesome ENGL Fireball clips!

You know, I didn't know it was possible to have GAS for something you've already got, but seeing as my Fireball is sitting here, and I can't use it because I don't have the speaker cabinet yet, well I'm going a little funny in the head with anticipation.

So seeing as I'm not able to show off the amp myself, well here's some clips that sum up what I think of the very amp I consider the pinacle of Heavy Metal amplification:

Soaring, beautiful lead tones! No doubt some of the absolute best lead sounds I've heard, even Petrucci doesn't have that good a tone.

Face-Smashing Death Metal Rythms! Fireball = Metal. That simple! Although I prefer the lead clip, this really shows what the amp is capable of with reguards to Metal.

Warm Cleans. Just an example of how well the Fireball preforms on the clean channel. I play a lot of clean stuff, so a decent clean channel is important to me, and although it's mainly a Metal amp, Engl certainly didn't slouch with reguards to the cleans.

It's worth noting that all these clips are produced with the guitar plugged straight into the Fireball. No boosts, EQs and only single tracked!

I'd say the lead clip is definetly my favourite. Great piece of music in it's own right. Right now I'm listening to it on repeat, and hoping I get to play with my own Fireball soon. No doubt most people here have heard me bleating on about the amp, and how amazing and perfect it is. Well hopefully now, you'll have a good idea of why I think it's so great.

Well, you have to admit it is a very good lead tone. Perhaps on par with Petrucci's?

The lead tone isn't anything special. Playing is a bit rough too :p

ah no i dont mind it. It is nice in fairness. I do like ENGLs really tbh. And i had to stop myself from comparing my tone on my old H&K last nite to Johns so thats where you fell down there.

What model H&K is it you have by the way? They do make some nice amps alright.

I sold my zenamp there a few months ago but running an old transistor Vortex into a 2x12 in the studio as the marsh is with the band. Been running it with an lr baggs eq and an art effects processor and using it for demos etc and its sounding great. Karl i would love to check out your stealth and Ibanez sometime if an ol' meet ever goes ahead!

Well you're certainly invited if you ever want to take a trip to Galway. Some cans, and playing guitars all day. Can't go wrong really.

Would be very cool indeed. You know, it would be easy to rent out a conference room of a hotel or the like.

Storio is that it's been shipped on Friday. So I'll no doubt post a thread when it's arrived. I went for the Engl because they're meant to be very seriously well built cabs, there's no cheap plastic used, it's all metal fittings and good quality wood, and no cheap front grill. I went for the cab with V30 speakers, because I'd rather some pronounced mids, and the cheaper Engl cab is supposedly very scooped sounding because of the speakers.

ye i like the 30's they are bit brighter than t75s or greenbacks which is prob really nice when your dealing with as much gain on tap as in that engl. seen a few engl cabs and they do seem to be monsters. Built very well like boogies. I am gonna order myself a fame cab soon coz they are such great value for four v30s

sounds nice. The pinnacle for Metal though is the peavey 6505 as far as im concerned, been through engls and mesa's before and i cant push the peavey enough. check the track "Bow Down" on myspace www.myspace.com/20bullseach

Yeah, V30s for the win! :D

I'd be wary of the Fame cabs though, because in my estimation with reguards to musical equipment, you really do get what you pay for. So V30s aside, I'd really wonder what's being skimped on in those Fame cabs.

the cabinets seem fairly decent but thats where the money is coming off. Well and the brand name too. Like Gibbos etc! Fames products are fantastic.

Haven't played the 6505, but I have played the 5150, and there's no doubt in my mind that it's a great Metal amp. There's a reason bands like My Dying Bride and Napalm Death used the 5150, but honestly, the Fireball is definetly the next step, as it has a lot more bite and far better cleans.

Ah yeah, no doubt you'll pay for a big brand name like Fender or Gibson, that goes without saying. ;)

to be fair though they have earned their name. Like if you have the extra cash and want it, They are fantastic instruments. Its just their quality does not increase in proportion to their price as other manafacturers do. Thats another story!

You're right. I'd still like one of those Japanese Strats, or the Lite Ash, at some stage, but sometimes when Fender is mentioned, I thing of those 'Relic' Strats that they took a bit of sandpaper to and added a huge upcharge for it. Ridiculous at times.

The clean on the 6505 is AWFUL. but theres a reason for that. you arent meant to use it! Fireballs are savage no denying it, but i prefer the 65 meself! i'd love to do a show and tell with all the amps and guitars! the Schecter XXX with the Invader needs to be shown off!

Well there you go. I use cleans a lot, so having an amp with a good clean channel is almost as essential as a good distortion channel.

100% agree. "Relicing" is totally ridiculous IMHO. Unfortunately a sizeable percentage of Fender people are locked into the idea that vintage is always better. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Things like vintage staggered pickups (designed for wound G strings) and amps with the knobs facing backwards are NOT better. ;)
