Where is the best place to buy things like boots, pads and headgear. I've seen that you can get brand new boots on ebay for as little as €15. Also I found a site/shop called gummie gumshields. Anyone use them? How cheap are they particularly for custom shields?

Dunshaughlin. Oh and a quick question about boots, what size would you wear if you have a size ten shoe, probably a stupid question.

The best place for Rugby Gear (armourfit, shorts, jerseys etc) is probably arnotts or else Elveryss.

I've never bought gear online and I probably would never even consider buying boots off ebay.

As for buying rugby boots, size ten should do you, however if you just a bout fit into size tens ask if they do half sizes as rugby socks are thicker then normal ones.
Also do you play forward or back?
If you are a back, especially in the back three (wingers+fullback) then I would reccomend just getting normal football boots, most of the time these do just a good job and are cheaper then most "rugby" boots.

Just be careful that the studs aren't too short if you do that.

Also Elverys is pricey enough, there are some newly established brands such as Kukri or O'Brien Sports - you might get some joy with them if you research online a bit. Also, ShockDoctor gumshields are very good if you can get your hands on one.

In Rugby World-Trimble said he got his boots from ebay. So it can't be bad.

I wouldn't go near a gumshield unless it's from my dentist tbh. Using the gumshields you buy is like using a swimming cap on a bike

I'll second that. I would recommend a dentist fitted gumsheild....a bit more expensive but your teeth are worth it.

As for boots...don't get the blades type...anecdotal eveidence is that they can inflict horrific bone deep wounds. (Personally i think they should be banned).

As for head gear and pads....wouldn't be a big fan of that stuff. Never wore any of it.

I was looking at brand new boots on ebay, half the retail price.
