Love the lighting in the first one, how it goes from light to dark with the area of focus in the middle. I kind of think that the logo out of focus is a wee bit distracting though, might have worked better if it was sharp too.

    Nice to see something different.

Are you really going for product photos here? I can see you're playing with a product but product photography should focus more on the product generally, no? i.e. you really want to show the product, show features of it. If anything, focus on the logo perhaps?

Maybe I'm just behind on what they're showing in magazines these days. :)

Thanks all for the comments. I was not aiming for an advertising photograph. I was trying to take an everyday object and make it look a bit more interesting. When I said Coporate magazine - I was thinking of . . if you ever read one of those bland big company in house mags often you see an article - and on the first page of the article the text begins half way down the page, and there in the background is a non specific looking product, ie a brandless product.

That was why the logo was blurred in those shots. I probably could have worded the post better but it's not supposed to be an advertising shot for any given brand. Its supposed to be a nice picture of a laptop (in this case an i-book). I actually scrapped the shots where the logo was crystal clear in favour of the ones which were closer to what I was aiming to achieve.
