Wardrobe issues

This is for all you competetive mma heads.

Is there an official rule/guideline regarding what can and can't be worn, clothes wise in an mma match. i.e. is there anything that would stop me wearing say, a pair of shorts, covered in beltloops or pockets or something else which might trap fingers and thumbs of opponents?

If not, does anyone actually exploit this loophole or does everybody show enough respect not to be a total prick about it?

I'd imagine doing things like that aren't allowed on any show and I'd doubt very much anyone training MMA would even think of it anyway.:rolleyes:
If a person needed to rely on stuff like that but he shouldn't be getting in a ring.

I don't think it would be allowed. My friend had a metal tag on his boardshorts when fighting and he had to have it cut off before the fight. So I'd imagine it applys for all shows. Since there are no official reulgations that I'm aware of in Ireland, I guess it's down to the promoter to specify these rules beforehand or at least point them at before fight time.

that's pretty much what I figured, i just got curious one night watching two guys in odd shorts fighting, when one got his thumb stuck in the pocket of the other guy.
