hi all, id appreciate a few comments on this hand

Friday Fitz scalps, after the break, blinds are 150/300 (going up to 200/400 shortly) I have ~ 4200. i have been playing quite tight. I pick up 88 in mid position and raise to 900. all fold to the BB who flat calls. he has a very wide range from what ive seen in the past and has a fairly decent stack, 10k+.

flop comes 7s 9s x. BB bets 1k, i have 3300 left. what to do?

i'd like to hear gholi's opinion, he was seated two to my left. Gholi, Olly introduced us before the game, I'm John.

88 in MP with 14BBs and blinds about to go up = hard to play.

Was the x another overcard or a rag? If it's another overcard, I probably give this up, unless I think there's a good chance opponent is on a draw. But with one overcard, and 3300 left, I might just push and be done with it.

Does anybody think limping is a better option preflop with this stack size, or does it really matter?

it would be nice if you had some type of a read, what does this lead out normally mean? Many players will calll a raise with K5o then lead a king high flop. Without a read I probably push and hope he doesnt have a nine, this is a good flop and the villain will have missed overs/flush draw a good % of the time.

Lenny, the "x" was a rag.

I had a feeling he wanted to take the pot on the flop. either overcards/flush draw/top pair/2nd pair.

I'll put the results in a spolier as i'd still like to get some more comments on the hand.
i thought about it for a while (probably too long) and pushed. he called with J9o. no help for me on the turn or the river.

sounds like a stop and go, I'd say you're behind to an over pair, maybe 10's.
