Advice on a new router

Im looking to buy a new wired router/switch.

What I want is a 8 port device which has an internal modem so I can connect
in my phone line and feed the net to ~8 computers.

There really is no price range so anything will do, within reason.

I've checked komplett and OCUK for something but I couldnt find anything.

Any ideas of where I might be able to buy one? Buying from Ireland is okay also.

Check the google site. it has best prices on internet.

Fo' Real though; get a modem and a seperate eight port switch, practical and cheaper. Or get andy and kev to fork out a few quid for wireless cards. Cheap gits.

I have a modem and a separate wireless gateway. The two wont work together.
Used to but not anymore. Im fed up with the complications of setting it up.

I also have a wireless switch with an internal modem. Use to work brill! But it
    died recently :-(

Having the modem in-built is how I liked it and its what Andy actually has. But
since mine died Ive been having issues.

So what I want is exactly what Andy has. An 9port switch with an internal
    modem.

edit: oh and whats the url to that google site? I cant find it. ;)

Died eh? Sounds like a job for the IS super friends to get together and fix ;)

Oddly enough, I've never come across an eight port switch with a built in modem, it strikes me as something pricey though (this is only based on the fact that I haven't seen them around).

You might have some luck posting in FS Wanted Computer Hardware, people seem to have all sorts of these things (network hardware) lying around (pilfered from work), despite them being difficult to find.

Ah will do that tonight! I gotta go out.

Yeah they seem VERY rare alright. Found a 5port one on komplett or OCUK, cant
    recall.

Ill post there later and see what other people have to say here.

Even the almighty IS super friends wont bring this thing back from the dead. Its
actually not quite dead. But in order for it to work it has to be heated up until
I can barely touch it. It was funny when Andy was first graced with its presence
at a lan. I had towels and t-shirts on it. What a legend of a switch. It deserves
    a state funeral.

This is a great router - has a true firewall and loads of settings for security and is also easy to setup, but if your living with quite a few other people you may want to look out for a router that has a bandwidth limiter, so you can limit the max bandwidth per machine. As there is nothing worse than going to use the net to find out ur mate is downloading off a P2P and has ALL the bandwidth.

    and

    will sort you out

    Nice!

Thats exactly what I was looking for but in a 8port form.

Im sure an 8 port adsl / router exists, but I would be going with my router of choice and an 8 port switch , as the chance of u finding the router you want with 8 ports is very slim. The cost of a switch is very little as well , the only draw back is it uses and extra power socket and is slightly larger in space, but these are minor issues.

Why not just buy a nice 1 / 2 / 4 / 5 port one and plug it into an 8 port switch. Switches are dumb devices, they require zero setup. A network cable between them and some leccy from the wall.
