    Hi,
Just wondering what the helpdesks for Eircom/NTL/IBB/etc are like to work for now? And what agencies?

I've heard that Eircom doesn't use Stelfox anymore, and I'm wondering is this true, and who takes on people the rest?

Also, what are their training and procedures like?

Please, ONLY people who've worked there answer, and not people griping about being a noob.

I worked in Eircom many moons ago, and I'm thinking of working in one of the helpdesks again, but I'd like the pro's and con's of each of them.

I worked for a short period in Eircom. Really nice company to work for. Obviously tech support has it's negative side, but overall I liked it there. You could sign off the phones pretty much whenever you wanted as long as your break + sign off time was under 1 hour 45 minutes a day (or something like that.) Two weeks training. Very basic stuff.

The only major problem I had with the job was the fact that the customers are paying about a euro per minute per call. Makes it a little more stressful than it should be...

Working Sundays in there was great. Time + half and nearly no calls...

They don't use Stelfox anymore. I'm not sure who they use now.

Worked in eircom.net before they started to use agencies... great place to work for back then. Stressful job if you let it be stressful and didn't know how to answer questions or deal with eejits, other than that no complaints! :D

Also worked BTOpenworld when run by ClientLogic. Most disgusting place/people ever worked for.

Yeah, I've worked in Eircom, but getting at least 2 customers a day, everything working OK, and still not working, drove me up the wall :(

Was hoping to see if the others (IBB/NTL) were the same, or different.

worked for bt openworld in client logic this was my idea of hell, everyhting aobut the place was terrible.

worked for Corporate support in BT,I really can not fault the place at all or anything about it.This place is great to learn about internet technologies and unix and everyhting to do with the internet in general!

In IBB I had quite a few promotions in a short space of time, worked with the most wonderfuil lads ever,it is a great learning environment but other external oppurtunites came up that were not worth missing.

Worked in eircom when they were using Stelfox. Worst company I've ever worked in. Little training provided, organisation skills of the management non-existant and respect for the customer was also non-existent.

I couldn't get out of there quickly enough.
