ive NEVER done any martial art.....only wrestled!!!!!!!!
I LOVE mma and im considering getting into it and thats why i hang around this forum....
All those fancy khatas etc in karate and other martial arts dont interest me....im looking for a sport that will teach me to defend and fight when necessary only and mma seems like its perfect for that

    wrestling is a martial art.

And there is a theory that it was brought from Greece to India by Alexander the Great, influenced Indian fighting systems in the same way as blue indian statues come from Greek classical statues, and then the Indian fighting systems when brought to the Shaolin Temple in China by Da Mo eventually became Kung-Fu making Wrestling the foundation of all martial arts.

By the way I don't believe this theory. :D

Might be interesting to correlate age group and art currently studied or age group and number of different arts studied over the years.........

I started MA when I was 12 in 1984, it was mu gen do which is FC kickboxing, but back then, it had a karate influence, we wore karate Gi, and trained in lines and did karate stuff, but in a kickboxing stance with boxing punches. about 2 years later it evolved into kickboxing with very little karate influence. I became a 2nd dan black belt my 16. all through the years the sparring was savage, and was full contact or very close to it. (got up to 4th dan a few years back)

anyway so I am 34 now, and have had much experience in a few different areas.

I still consider myself to be a "Student" and that I have a long long way to go in training. I am learning Muay Thai presently though I admit at 34 the body does slow up a bit, and I was very suprised that I was slowing up!

I hate BS within MA too!

    1 pint = approx .5 kg

Three nights a week serious weight lifting for 4-5 hrs. That'll tone your arms fairly sharpish... :p
