I am a a full time student working in a bank for the summer. I worked last year in the same place as this year. When i left last year i didnt get a p45. This year i got emergency taxed. Last year to stop that tax i got a form 12A. But i can't do that this year because it's NOT my first time.. all the staff on the phone say is "tax form" and never specify which one! even when i ask!

i requested a form 12a as the tax form which i have to fax to pay roll but im not sure if its the right one .

    Help!

Get on to the tax office and ask them to send you a copy of your certificate of tax credits. I wouldn't worry about emergency tax, you'll get it back when you've sorrted everything out.

If you get your employer's registered number, you can also ask the tax office to issue a certificate of tax credits directly to them - this way the tax office also know who's employing you.
