Posting this on behalf of a technophobe buddy so don't have all the specs on the printer but it's one of those printer fax copier combos.

It will print perfectly A4 paper with a heading in green and the body of the doc. in black. However when he tries to print an envelope it will only print in pale green and it's getting paler all the time! He has black selected for printing the envelopes and it has worked previously.

    Any ideas very welcome,

    Thanks! ;)

More info is needed like the software used to print on the envelopes. I always use MS works for printing on my envelopes and mailing labels. The Printer make and model would be also handy. Help us help you. ;)

Clogged print head and/or running low on the black cartridge

Thanks Wertz! but if it's printing the A4 perfectly would it be a blockage or low ink??

Anyway, its a Lexmark X73 and he is typing up the addresses for the envelopes in Microsoft Works.

Wait...it's still printing the A4 okay after the envelope has printed badly? That's very odd. I had a feeling it was a lexmark/dell...mine used to get a blocked head a lot when it wasn't used for a few weeks...used to get a little alcohol on an earbud and clean the cart head...usually it was the black that would glue up.

If it's only doing it on envelopes consistently then it's obviously not a clog or empty...try printing with a different program maybe?

Would the thickness of envelopes vs normal A4 be effecting it at all?
