BigDragon and myself will be doing a poker podcast in the very near future featuring special guests HectorJelly and MrPillowTalk. So if you have any questions for these guys that you want to hear them answer then post them here. Also if you have any poker topic you think we should talk about or you have a HH you'd like us to discuss then also let us know by posting the details here. Obviously we are unlikely to be able to cover everything but we'll see what we can do.

They will be in standard mp3 format and you can listen to them anywhere you would listen to an mp3 such as winamp, realplayer etc etc or any portable mp3 player.

We don't intend to bring commercial softdrinks or rugby into the discussion.

When I learn to check-raise will I win at poker?

Do they use software like poker tracker, etc, and their opinions on it (is it necessary, etc).

How do they go about analysing and improving their game, i.e. do they spend time going through hand histories, etc.

Opinions on the Irish poker scene.

Would be interested to hear their views on the topic of giving up regular employment to play poker professionally. As I understand it Hectorjelly plays full time and MrPillowTalk has a job, so maybe some different perspectives there.

Ask each if they could ban one poster on the poker forum, who would they ban?
Who is their favourite poker forum mod?
Who is the most overrated player on the poker forum? And who is most underrated?

LOL, with Muso asking the questions and Dev probably knocking around somewhere nearby are you sure you want them to ask this question Laf?? :D:D

Stay away from HH discussions as most of them are boring imo. Most of the time you don't have enough info to give a proper analysis. There's always some little detail that may seem insignificant that's left out that may change the analysis.

Coke and hooker questions are much more interesting ;)

    ME, OBV.

Ask each of them who they think will reach the 50/100nl level first and what timeframe they give each other.

Can we request people to bring on as guests to discuss certain topics?

I'd like to hear Ste05 shiote talk about RB deals etc etc.

He knows far too much about the subject, it's sickening.

No way,I taught it was that bloke of Father Ted you know the one who looks like NTL.

I never got around to watching the next series I kept going to put Dallas into the video player but kept getting it mixed up with something called "Debbie Does Dallas" which became my favorite movie of all time.

Nah, that was Bobby. There's obviously no point in asking you questions on 70's shows. :) Although the fact that I remember this doesn't bear well on me.

Is there a defining moment in your poker playing development.

    Fixed leak

    Grasping a stategy or concept

    confidence / belief level

Oh!, and can Engerland win the World Cup.

Yes they can win. England have always played to the level of their opponents. Crap opponents they play crap class opponents they play class. Once they come up against someone good they will play as good if not better than them.
No team so far have looked like world beaters.
They may not win but they'll go down with all guns blazing when they do.

I thought the ratings were crap after larry hagman ( is that his name?) left so at the start of the next series they brought him back and made the entire previous season a dream? I could be letting my imagination run away with me.

No, that was Patrick Duffy who played Bobby. It was a year-long dream by Pam, who then found him alive and well in the shower. Craziest story ever, the chancers! JR was in the show from beginning to end iirc.

I'm expecting a warning now for dragging threads OT.... Hell, I'd recommend one for anyone else who did it!

Actually if I can be so bold as to bring this thread back on topic, one item of discussion I'd really be interesting in hearing from the panel is:
How do they analyse and improve their own play. How do they go about identifying leaks in their game, e.g. how do you locate areas or situations where they think they are leaving money on the table that could have been extracted, or identifying areas where they are losing money that they shouldn't. (I'm not sure if you'll want to mention PT or similar "add-on's", but presumably these are used in this process and I'd be very interested in hearing thoughts and opinions on what they look for).

Another topic I'd be interested in hearing about is how their Poker development occurred, i.e. how did they go from being a fish to being a successful profitable player, was it through reading books and forums, a mentor, a family member, self taught, a combination of all these, etc. etc.

Sorry for the hijack, back off topic again please, quite an enjoyable thread really...

Kind of a precursor (sp?) to the above question, but how long have they both been playing and how do their family/friends feel about their playing poker.
Also do they find it hard to socialise outside of poker circles.

Finally if the government were to start taxing "gambling" wins, 1) would you declare your wins? 2) Would it encourage you to move abroad, possible to somewhere that wouldnt tax poker wins.

BUMP - last chance to get 'decent' questions in......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭Mr. Flibble

    1) if you could walk into a 9-5 job which paid you as much as you make playing would you take it, doing something you enjoyed.

    2) do you want to play at higher and higher levels, or are you content staying indefinatly at a level so long as the money is good?

    3) if you won the euro lotto would you play in the biggest games (or would you stop playing)?

    4) can you put a finger on the reasons you won't ever be the best poker player in the world (no offence, I'd just like some insite into the defferences between the best and the best of the beast) or if you think you will be what will be different when you are to now?
