Mods, move if this is the wrong place, but I wanted a serious answer, so I posted here. I've read the rules, and I'm not looking for doctor's advice, just wanted to query a curiousity.

Are BrainFreezes harmfull? You know, when you eat alot of ice-cream, etc, and you get a "brain freeze", sometime maybe even a temporary headache? And if so, what harm does it do to you?

Interesting article. I suffer with "Brain Freeze", I don't have to eat alot of ice-cream to get the pain, just if I eat it too quickly.

And I have to admit, it is extremely painful, my eyes tear with the pain :(

I found this on the same page;
Methods to stop ice cream headache Carl S Hayes bmj.com, 22 Jul 1999 [Full text]

I have to say I'm quite worried now after reading this thread. On that page it says;

If you get a "BRAIN FREEZE" frequently after eating then I suggest that you should get a pinch of salt as soon as you feel the headache coming on and then put the salt into your mouth and swallow. As a surgeon I would recommend for you to go and see your local docter to have a cat scan it will not cost you anything if you claim it on the "NHS" I hope that you will use my method.
:eek: :(
