I have caught the skiing bug after being in Andorra last Christmas. Good nightlife, excellent ski runs for beginners but the Hotel Arinsal in the resort of Arinsal is a dump!! Dont go!!

Any opinions on skiing resorts around Europe that will offer good apres ski and be relativelty inexpensive for food and booze???? The most important criteria I suppose I am looking for is cheap booze and good nightlife!

If it's booze and nightlife you want i'd suggest Andorra. If it's skiing with a bit of booze and nightlife thrown in i'd suggest Austria or France.

I heard Bulgaria was cheap, never been however. I loved ANdorra and am heading back in January, don't stay in the Bellavista Apartments, you have to literally trek up a mountain to get there.

I've only been to Wengen in Switzerland, Really enjoyed it but it was quiet and Nightlife was non existent. Personally I go on a winter holiday for the Snowboarding so I wasn't bothered by that. But if it's what your looking for then Wengen isn't an option for you.

Chamonix in France has great skiing and great nightlife. I'd recommend that for what your into. There is a hostel in the village so maybe that would be cheap enough, dont know though. Nightlife is not particularly cheap however. it would be pretty similar to dublin prices as far as i remember.

Livigne in Italy was great. They treated the slopes everynight, lots of blues and reds with just a few blacks. Duty-free area and the nightlife was pretty good and cheap.

I wouldn't recommend Andorra at all, especially not for a family. The resorts in France tend to me much more family friendly in my experience.

I was in Livigno in Italy in 2004, and it was fantastic! It was my first time, so can't comment on slopes or runs, but I enjoyed it. Fantastic food and wine for two usually work out around 15 euros! Its tax free zone, so a litre of Baileys or Smirnoff was like 7 euros or so!

This year, I am planning to spend two weeks around Christmas in Costa Del Sol. Also thinking of checking out Sierra Nevada for a few days. Has anyone been there, what is it like, good/bad/tips/comments appreciated.

Pas de la casa sucks donkey balls if you actually want to ski as well as drink though. Its very beginner. Livigno has good skiing too
