    howdy all,

i'm looking to compile a list of the best venues to play around the country, the Whelans of Galway, Limerick, Cork and anywhere else you think we should play.

also, if anyone would like to help us get gigs supporting good local bands around the country during the summer please get in touch.

you can check us out at http://www.myspace.com/theheathensmusic

    thanks,

    regards,

    richie.

Yep the Roisin is a nice spot.
In Cork An Brog and Cyprus Avenue have been good.
Limerick, apparently Dolans is the best spot though havnt been there yet so cant say for sure.
As you say Whelens in Dublin thought we (the band I work for) did a gig in the Sugar club a few months back that was great, totally different buzz than other venues due to the shape and seating arrangements, but you do need somewhat of a crowd Id say to get the vibe going.
In Belfast played the Spring and Airbreak(I kid you not, thats the name) which was a great night because we/they were supporting the Frank and Walters so there was a good crowd there (its a big venue though so you really do need a crowd or its not gonna happen).
In Derry only played the Gweedore which can be a strange one, but had one gig there which was amazing but it can be hit and miss, mad locals though, great craic :D
Playing 'indie delights' next time in Derry so cant comment on that yet.
And please dont forget Eddie Murphy's in Thomastown county Kilkenny, quiet simply the best punters, staff and hostess we'v encountered on this Island, tiny town but a music town, so if yer good they'l take you to their bussom, if not, **** off :D

Hope that helped a little, all the best for the summer

The Spiritstore in Dundalk is a cracker of a venue, small granted but has a fantastic atmosphere and a great crowd. Bands love playing there.
