Not sure if this is the right section for my post to be in, so if its not-feel free to move it!
Im going camping this weekend with about 10 friends. We would prefer to avoid campsites and would rather camp on a small bit of grass near to the sand dunes.
My main question is :Is this legal? Camping in a public place? Obviously we are clean, not too noisy etc so wont be causing trouble..but im just wondering if we could encounter any problems doing this..

Dunno where your planning on going but every time ive been to brittas in the last 2 years (quite a few my gf s family has a mobile there), ive seen people doing this on the dunes, not loads obviously but always one or two.
Dunno if its legal but doubt that anyone would stop you most they could do is move you on imo, if the land is private property id ask the owner/farmer for permission first, should be ok once you dont wreck the place.

If theres no sign up that says 'No Camping', and you're not disturbing anyone then I can't see you running into trouble.

(But if theres a fence around it, at least try to get permission)

    Have fun.

AFAIK it is illegal, but the worst you can expect is a Garda telling you to move on, if someone happens to complain. You won't end up in the slammer, like...
