Microsoft have discontinued Media Player for the Mac, to play WMV you can download the Flip4Mac plugin for quicktime.

There is a version of Realplayer for Mac - download it from Real's website. VLC player can handle a huge load of media types too.

the reason i was asking ,,, and i should have put this in the 1st post is I'm making videos using camtasia and i want to save the file so both mac and windows users can use it.

From what i heard both can play AVI. but the files are really big. WMV are alot smaller so i was hoping they worked on mac as well.

    thanks for the info guys.

Yes they have, as well as IE for mac. However you can still download and use them!

Word of warning NeVer, AVI is a generic extension (Audio Video Interleave) means prettymuch any format, RAW, MPG, MPEG2, DIVX XVid even WMV. Although one should really use a .wmv or .mpg extension somtimes people font bother!

For the sake of quality and compatibilty, id stick with the AVI file that the camera is producing.
