Hello to all.:) I've been a regular reader of this forum since before i got my dslr a couple of months ago.I've picked up a lot of tips and knowledge from you all and have really enjoyed looking at your work.I just set up a flickr acc. of my own so perhaps some of you might take a look at the few shots I have there and let me know if I'm heading in the right direction. I'm new to all this so apologies in advance if the link doesn't work or breaks the forum rules ect.All comments welcome.

I thought they were very good - especially the sunsets/sunrise and the guitar one.

The guitar one has really good colours from the guitar to the colour of the background behind it - I think it works very well.

The sunset ones are excellent too - the pond scum one, the corkagh dawn have captured some amazing scenes too.

The jungle swans one is a great composition with the mist on the left, the silouhetted swan with reflection and the blazing sun - it all works very well. The colours of that one are excellent too.

The only problem I can see is that on some of the sunset ones there appear to be sensor dust smudges - (marks on top right of corkagh dawn and jungle swans) I have had that problem too and didnt notice it until pointed out. The problem areas are easily fixed in photoshop if you have access to it. Seriously excellent shots though. You should post here more often.

I realised through info i got from you guys on here quite early on,that the sensor on the cam was quite manky. It was like that when i got it so i have been putting off doing the whole sensor cleaning thing till i get a few quid (and the nerve!:) )together. Thank you for the comments on my shots.Coming from someone on this forum ,they are extremely encouraging.i won't throw away the auld 20d yet so !!

Hey - same camera ! there is a place at the back of brown thomas (dont know the name) that does sensor cleaning professionally - mine was probably worse than yours through constant lens changing and they got it perfect - it costs 20 or 25 Euros.

I meant to ask earlier - what lens were you using for the sunset ones ?

City, they are sunrise shots taken in the local park. I only have one lens at the moment, the kit lens.the more I am learning, the more i am realising it's limitations .I won't be getting another lens for a while due to the expense and i still don't know what kind of shots I'd be most interested in doing,as i said,i'm just starting out.

Really like the way the light falls on the guitar shot.

The portrait has a lot of potential, but unfortunatly suffers from camera shake!

Yup, the thing that sets these apart from most 'beginner' shots is the quality of light that you've spotted and captured. I've left a couple comments on flickr.

I keep changing lenses every five minutes, I'm sure my sensor is filthy too... will have to bite the bullet and clean it sometime soon. In the meantime, photoshop is my friend...
