I want to get a sword for a friends birthday. He's not really into martial arts, but I know he'd like something like this. Anyone know any places I could get a nice sword. I'm thinking maybe a tai chi sword. Nice if it was attractive, costin me less than a hundred inc postage etc. Anyone got any good links?

    Thanks

    Patrick

There is a huge selenction of reasonable swords to be found on eBay.ie.

The two sites below offer a good selection at reasonable prices but, for some reason, postage from the UK is savage.

The Paul Chen stuff is a very good mix of price and quality.

If you want to risk VAT and Duty from the US then 888 are good:

    Hi Patrick,

I bought a nice sword for a friend last year. It is a Celtic sword based on a La Tene design and has an antromorphic (spelling?) hilt which meams the hilt has a Celtic head and arms/legs. It cost about 100 euros and I got it in the heraldry shop opposite Dublin Castle on Dame Street.

Basically there are two types of swords, decorative and functional. The blade of the latter goes into the hilt and you can use it to train while the decorative is just for hanging on the wall.

    Try www.casiberia.com

    Hope this helps. :)

    Hi Patrick,

Here's two Japanese WW2 swords that are for sale if you're interested... might be a bit over your budget though.
