Firefox question

    This isn't particularly urgent but it is a bit annoying. If I have two (or more) Firefox windows open at the same time and something updates or loads on the back window it will automatically jump to the front. I find this particularly annoying if I'm doing something in the front window as I get interrupted. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to switch this feature off. I use multiple tabs as well as multiple windows and it doesn't happen with the tabs. I have v 1.0.7 and running it in safe mode doesn't make a difference. Thanks. Jack.

    I can only think of one solution:
    Tools -> Options -> Tabs -> Force links that open new windows to open in: -> The same tab/window as the link

    Then it won't open a new tab at all. :)

    Not sure but for Internet Explorer, the MSN Toolbar includes tabs for IE and gives a nice option of opening a link into a background or foreground tab.

    First idea would be to update Firefox. The most recent version is 1.5.0.4 and you can get it at http://www.mozilla.com

    Another great addon to change the behaviour of tabs is Tab Mix Plus

    BTW I found this on the mozillazine forums. If you want to do a google domain search, eg site:www.boards.ie, for the current site you are on, select the following text and drag it to your bookmarks toolbar. It creates a bookmark that performs the domain search for the current tabs site.
    javascript:(function() { var site=escape(location.hostname); s=prompt('Enter Google Search Query for '+site+ ':'); if(s != null) {  x=window.open(); x.location='http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3A'+site+ ' '+s; }})();

    How stable is firefox now? I've been using it a while but always seems to crash after an hour or two of browsing, memory leaks , just tends to hog system resources after a while..

    Is that normal? Also its a bitch for java applets that run for longer than 15 minutes.

    As the man said, update Firefox. If anything, the reinstall may set your settings back to default and automatically solve the problem ;).

    I always like the alternative link though: http://www.getfirefox.com

    Cant get a simpler address than that!

    It still doesnt release the resources after its closed, at least for me anyway but I still use it anyway. Hopefully that will be ironed out soon.
