IBB smtp

    Anyone else having probs with IBB smtp server to send mails this evening?

    My mail says it's sent but never arrives at destination. Different PC has the same problem.

    Yes can't send mail either thru my POP3 account, smtp.irishbroadband.ie must be dead again.

    getting error 451 from ibb

    This will fix it,
    Change your outgoing mail server from smtp.irishbroadband.ie to smtp1.irishbroadband.ie
    a few emails went thru their.:D

    Change your outgoing mail server from smtp.irishbroadband.ie to smtp1.irishbroadband.ie
    a few emails went thru their.:D

    Sorry to say, but both thoses addresses resolve to the same smtp cluster. So it will make no difference.

    The only difference between the two addresses is that smtp1 is hard coded to the first machine of the cluster where as smtp relates to both. So in theory using smtp will be better as if one machine is taken down for service you will be given the ip of the working machine.

    Still the smtp at ibb has been very unstable over the last few months.
