What about this camera?

    Hi all

Back again.... still on the hunt for a camera. All the advice from the earlier thread I posted diligently noted and I've been going into the camera shops with a notepad full of info from the site!!!

Anyway- basically a friend of a friend is upgrading a camera and has offered me his old one for €250. It's quite new (he still has the receipt) and apparently was €390 in the shop. It's a Fuji 5600, 5 mega pixels, 10x optical zoom. Have to buy a camera this week as am off to Holland on Sunday for a few days and am keen to use the trip to get used to a new camera.....

Regardless of the fact the camera would be cheaper than if bought in shop, if anyone thinks I should still get a different one any advice again welcome.... am thinking of stretching the budget to 600 if need be..... Important thing for me is to be able to take good pics, especially landscapes/scenery (S America)

    Thanks all!!

that camera is €271 at Pixmania so €250 wouldn't exactly be a great bargin.

i've seen on some German sites for example - under €500 you could get a Canon Powershot S 3 IS 12x optical zoom 6 mpixel and movie features pretty good camera

    Hi Eiretraveller,

on lens over 5x Optical Zoom you should really be looking for Image Stabilisation. To my knowledge all these Fuji "Bridge" SLR's don't have it. There is also no dedicated Flash Gun available for them. A lot of my students have this range and find it quite frustrating that they have to opt for a manual flash to bring their photography to the next level

I have to agree with Fionn, the Canon Powershot S 3 IS is quite a good camera. It's just out and one of my current students has one, she got it for her bird watching hobby. It has Image Stabilisation as well.
