helmet on airplane ?

    hi,

    i've just bought a new helmet abroad.

    never traveled with one before

    what with the new security mesures in airports
    will i need to check it in as luggage or can i get on a plane with one ?

    check it in as hand luggage. I've brought a helmet a couple of times and no one batted an eyelid.

    my wife got sellotape taken off her a few weeks ago.
    was told it could be used in a hijack suitation....

    I think you could strangle someone with sellotape if you pulled it tight, so they might have a point. Saying that you could put on the helmet and you would be fairly hard to take down if you tried something funny.

    I think if the worst comes to the worst you can request it to be put in the captains locker and he'll give it back to you when you get off. This is an option when you are carrying offensive but legally held weopons.

    Travelled with two helmets, armoured jackets, and panniers, the week before last and, as K-Tric says, noone batted an eyelid. Man, I should've put it all on and demanded that they fly me to Mugello! :D

    went well.

    no security problem.

    i didn't have any other bags so i argued my case about weight and they let me on.

    only problem i have is i went from a 30 degree stockholm to a cloud covered dublin :-(

    let me guess...
    he followed a swedish girl home or was working for ericsson and met a swedish girl and stayed on ?
